Body Lift

Belt Lipectomy

Belt Lipectomy, also known as lower body lift, offers the most dramatic transformation of the mid and lower body. It is truly a "resculpting" of the abdomen, hips, thighs and buttocks. The lower body lift, broken into its components, includes tummy tuck (abdominoplasty), thigh lift, and buttocks lift.

The body lift procedure is performed on post-bariatric patients and patients who have experienced massive weight loss and have excess skin. However, results may be incredible in patients who, in addition to a tummy tuck, want a tightening of the skin in their thighs and buttocks. The body lift (belt lipectomy) has the advantage of either being done in one surgical session, or in stages, depending on the patient's health and needs.

Stand in front of a mirror. Look at your abdomen. Pinch the skin of the lower abdomen. If you like how it looks as it is tightened you are a candidate for the abdominoplasty procedure.

Now pinch the loose skin around your hips, see how it lifts the hips and thighs. If you like how they look you are a candidate for the lateral thigh lift.

Stand facing away from the mirror and look over your shoulder so you can see as much as you can of your back area. Pinch the skin in your lower back with your hands and lift the butt. This approximates what a butt lift can accomplish.

The ideal location for a body lift scar is along the waistline, where most garments will provide scar coverage. The scar should lie in the back, at the level of the anterior superior iliac spine, or approximately three fingers from the top of the iliac crest; and between the hair-bearing pubic area and the lower abdomen in the front.

The Body Lift is done under local anesthesia and sedation. This surgery can be done with other surgical procedures.

Length of procedure: 2-5 hours
Type of anesthesia: Local anesthesia plus sedation
Hospital stay: 1-2 nights
Post-operatory stay in Costa Rica: 14 days
