Brachioplasty

Brachioplasty

Do your upper arms look fat and loose? Have you ever considered an arm lift? There are three different techniques to reduce the upper arm area.

The first consists of the removal of skin in the armpit: A piece of skin about 3 to 4 inches long (7.65 - 10.2 cm) and 2 inches wide (5.1 cm) is removed in the armpit area, with the skin of the arm then being pulled together and tightened.

The second consists of the removal of a piece of skin along the inside of the upper arm: An incision is made along the inside of the upper arm, and a piece of skin as long as the upper arm itself and as wide as the hanging skin requires is removed, with the remaining skin being sutured together.

The third consists of liposuction of the arms: Liposuction will remove the excess fat in the arm area. It can be done individually or in addition to the procedures mentioned above.

These procedures are normally done under local anesthesia and sedation. This surgery can be done simultaneously with other plastic surgery procedures.

Length of procedure: 1-2 hours
Type of anesthesia: Local anesthesia plus sedation
Hospital stay: 1-2 nights
Post-operatory stay in Costa Rica: 12 days
